Just spent two hours flat colouring and editing. I was going to put this one to one side and start on something else, but it's really a May picture so it needs to be finished in May ^^

Another spring/summer goddess, that weird thing she's holding is meant to be a lamb...., still in the early stages, needs some work.
I'm having to learn how to sketch in a new program as Vista has decided that it no longer likes my old copy of Painter Classic, even though they've been working fine together since December.

I've had to do a fair bit of editing to get it to something I'm happy with, humans are really not my strong point but I've always tried to push myself to draw more ^^ Here's the flat coloured image.

Workings on a spring goddess pic, messy sketch as always.
While I draw I tend to change my mind on things, just as well I draw on computer or the paper would be a horrible mess.

Put the Lana pic on hold for now as I was getting nowhere with it, I'll keep hold of it and come back to it at some point, I'll just file it over here *drops in trash*
I need an image for a card I'm making up in an effort to promote my art a little, so decided that a fairy/goddess would look rather nice.
I'd drawn some goddess characters before for someone and there was one I really liked that would have worked really well but was a little outdated.
I fished out the old sketch of the original drawing and decided to try and draw a new character out of it. In this first messy sketch you can see some of the original image.I don't know why I decided on the shorter hair, I was going to stay with the long hair but I'd got this strange outline in place and could picture the short hair though it. I think it works better.
I've started to outline here over the blue but still very messy.Moved in to Photoshop to remove the blue layer, then back in to Painter where I cleaned up what was left and added the odd detail here and there. Looking forward to colouring not sure which technique to use yet though ^^;

Lana face workings

Thought I'd post where I am with that picture of Lana I'm working on, as you can see I still have a long way to go until I'm going to be happy with this one, but I am content enough to plod along with it ^^
Also working on some human characters, not sure how far I will get with these but I thought I might post them here anyway. I'll post them again if I do anything more with them.

Art blocks

I'm afraid I haven't been in much of a drawing mood lately, I've been getting through other little jobs, such as updating my website neoncola.co.uk and keeping busy with my hat sales on eBay.

I decided to try and get myself in gear and have flat coloured this picture here.
Looks pretty basic (rubbish) at the moment and I have a lot of work yet to do, I know where I want it to go but it's going to take a while to get it there.

Art blocks are annoying, there are many different ways of dealing with them.
What I've tried here is 'Forcing' which is where you force yourself to draw, sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't, when it doesn't it can make you feel really bad about your art.
Hopefully before you get to that you try the other method, 'Don't draw'.
This is where you do anything but draw and look for things that will inspire you; watch a movie, read a book, listen to music, go for a walk, anything that will help you to relax. Before you know it you'll be drawing again and I find that after a block my art improves because I've had time to give myself a break and find lots of new ideas.
Sometimes it's a matter of finding what works for you, I know how frustrating it can be when you have an idea of something you want to draw but when you put pencil to paper nothing happens or worse what ever your drawing looks bad.
The best thing to do though is to put it away and not worry about it.
Right I'm off to watch a movie ^^

Pyramid Head Pony

I'd seen custom ponies around online and thought I'd give it a bash, I first had to find some ponies and managed to hunt some down on eBay, I've since then had a batch sent by a friend.
I first started with a Reno Pony.
.....then for some unknown reason made a Pyramid Head Pony.

These are great fun to make, I striped one down gave a whitewash of paint, poked in some chains and then got out some polymer clay I'd bought for making charms out of.
Polymer clay is loads of fun, it's easy to use and doesn't make any mess at all, it also is baked in an oven so no kiln needed!

It's also very nice to paint on, I tried to create a textured effect with this and used a sponging technique that's worked really well

The pyramid part is made with bits of card and then painted to look like metal.

I've decided that I would like a little place where I can post stages of art that I'm working on.

Check out the links on the side there to see my art archives.

There are a couple of things I'm working on at the moment.
I want to colour this sketch and do pretty much the same as I did with this one.

I also want to fix some details on this picture here, especially the hands, they need redoing.

Another little project I have at the moment is these custom ponies, the unfinished on I plan to sell when it is finished.
